GREEN CLEANING

Question: What is Green Cleaning?

Answer: Green Cleaning can have a lot of interpretations, but the main goal of green cleaning is to use cleaning solutions and methods that keep our environment healthy. There are many degrees to which homes can take this goal.
For some homes, green cleaning means that they only use substances like baking soda, vinegar, and lemons to clean the home surfaces. Other homes may seek out commercial cleaners that are healthy for the environment. They may want to avoid phosphates, chlorine, artificial fragrances, and artificial colors. Many cleaners on the market now are marketed as being biodegradable.
Other cleaning products may use recycled packaging or donate a portion of their profits to environmental causes.
Whatever choices you make about your cleaning supplies, there is a huge variety of environmentally friendly choices for those interested in green cleaning.
There are many dish soaps on the market that allow you to clean while helping the environment. Environmentally friendly dish soaps have come a long way, and they are able to clean and degrease effectively. Find some great examples of "green cleaning" that you can try.

1. Life Tree Dish Soap
A few drops of Life Tree Dish Soap cuts grease and lifts away food. It does a nice job on dishes and is soft and gentle on hands. Environmentally conscious consumers will appreciate the super concentrated formula that uses a smaller bottle. Others may like the gentleness and full disclosure of ingredients. 3 Homemade Natural Cleaning Products
Using lemons, vinegar, and baking soda as natural cleaning products in your home
By Sarah Aguirre, About.com Guide

One of my earliest memories is of my mother cleaning with what looked to me like cooking ingredients. She would be listening to the radio as she poured baking soda, lemon, and vinegar combinations on the surfaces of our home. Magically these natural cleaning products kept our home clean and smelling fresh, without stretching an already thin household budget. Here are a few basic household ingredients and items you can use to clean your home.

Vinegar
Uses:
Vinegar naturally cleans like an all-purpose cleaner. Mix a solution of 1 part water to 1 part vinegar in a new store bought spray bottle and you have a solution that will clean most areas of your home. Vinegar is a great natural cleaning product as well as a disinfectant and deodorizer. Always test on an inconspicuous area. It is safe to use on most surfaces and has the added bonus of being incredibly cheap. Improperly diluted vinegar is acidic and can eat away at tile grout. Never use vinegar on marble surfaces. Don't worry about your home smelling like vinegar. The smell disappears when it dries. Here are some uses for vinegar in the rooms of your house. Use it in the
Bathroom - Clean the bathtub, toilet, sink, and countertops. Use pure vinegar in the toilet bowl to get rid of rings. Flush the toilet to allow the water level to go down. Pour the undiluted vinegar around the inside of the rim. Scrub down the bowl. Mop the floor in the bathroom with a vinegar/water solution. The substance will also eat away the soap scum and hard water stains on your fixtures and tile. Make sure it is safe to use with your tile.
Kitchen- Clean the stovetop, appliances, countertops, and floor.
Laundry Room- Use vinegar as a natural fabric softener. This can be especially helpful for families who have sensitive skin. Add cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle in place of store bought fabric softener. Vinegar has the added benefit of breaking down laundry detergent more effectively. (A plus when you have a family member whose skin detects every trace of detergent.)

Lemon Juice
Uses:
Lemon juice is another natural substance that can be used to clean your home. Lemon juice can be used to dissolve soap scum and hard water deposits. Lemon is a great substance to clean and shine brass and copper. Lemon juice can be mixed with vinegar and or baking soda to make cleaning pastes. Cut a lemon in half and sprinkle baking soda on the cut section. Use the lemon to scrub dishes, surfaces, and stains. Mix 1 cup olive oil with cup lemon juice and you have a furniture polish for your hardwood furniture.
My favorite use for the fruit is to put a whole lemon peel through the garbage disposal. It freshens the drain and the kitchen. Orange peels can be used with the same results.

Baking Soda
Uses:
Baking soda can be used to scrub surfaces in much the same way as commercial abrasive cleansers. Baking soda is great as a deodorizer. Place a box in the refrigerator and freezer to absorb odors. Put it anywhere you need deodorizing action. Try these three kitchen ingredients as natural cleaning products in your home.

There are lots of changes which one could make in order to live a green and an eco-friendly life. Driving a green vehicle would be one of them; as such vehicle runs on alternate sources of energy which are non-polluting. Changes can also be made when it comes to the energy used to supply power to the homes. Instead of the regular energy which is kind of harmful to the eco-system, one has the option of using alternate means of procuring it as well. There is the solar power, the wind, power, the water power, and so on. Certain products can be green as well, such as clothes, toys, and even furniture.

The options for living such a life are very numerous and one of the domains which could also benefit from a change is the domain of the green cleaning products. There are various organic green cleaning products which can be used instead of the regular ones, thus aiding the nature and in the same time the health of the people who live there. The regular cleaning products contain substances which on the long run might cause some problems to the eyes, skin, and even lungs.

Fortunately, the organic green cleaning products do not contain these substances. The ingredients which are in the composition of the green cleaning products are biodegradable and non-toxic. One of the easiest ways of using green cleaning products is to make them yourself, and there are lots of options for every situation. Lets say that you want to remove the foul odor from the carpet. Instead of using a product which is damaging to the environment, you could combine baking soda and starch which would result in a solution that will take care of the problem in natural non-hazardous ways.

When you want to clean the oven there is a solution as well: mix water with baking soda and sold and you will have a healthy cocktail which will take care of the problem. Combining salt with white vinegar would result in a perfect solution that will take care of the mold. For taking care of the mold you can also use salt and lemon juice, and the result will have the same beneficial effect. The glasses can also be used with the aid of white vinegar. Mix white vinegar with an equal amount of water and you can use the result to proceed with the cleaning process.

Besides the health benefits, the organic green cleaning products also have an economical advantage. By using these types of products in an office building, the morale of the inhabitants will increase which means that their productivity will increase as well. These are just some of the solutions for cleaning with green organic products
